Besi develops world-leading semiconductor assembly equipment used in AI, High Performance Computing and next-generation packaging technologies.
As semiconductor manufacturing moves towards increasingly complex technologies such as Hybrid Bonding, traditional engineering approaches are no longer sufficient. Virtual engineering, simulation-driven design and cross-disciplinary system optimization are becoming key enablers for innovation and performance.
To strengthen our development capabilities, we are looking for an experienced simulation expert who can bridge multiple engineering disciplines and help establish a next-generation simulation capability across our global R&D organization.
Multiphysics Simulation Expert (f/m/d)
Your Mission
You will drive simulation-driven engineering for highly demanding semiconductor equipment and become the central technical interface between mechanics, motion systems, vision, system engineering, process engineering and external technology partners.
Your goal is not only to perform simulations but to enable better engineering decisions throughout the entire product development process.
Your new responsibilities
Develop and apply advanced multiphysics simulation methodologies for next-generation semiconductor equipment and processes
Provide technical leadership for a future Simulation Competence Center
Perform and coordinate simulations in areas such as:
- Structural mechanics / Material behaviour
- Dynamics and vibration / Motion systems
- Heat transfer and thermal management
- Coupled multiphysics problems
Build simulation workflows that combine results across different domains and tools
Support concept development, architecture decisions and root-cause investigations through simulation-driven insights
Collaborate closely with Mechanical Design, Motion Engineering, Software, Process Development, Vision, Product Specialists and System Engineering teams
Leverage and coordinate external simulation specialists, universities and technology partners
Establish modelling standards, best practices and simulation governance across projects
Mentor engineers and contribute to raising simulation competence across the organisation
Coordinate and administrate Simulation Tools and Team
Our requirements
Master's degree or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Engineering Physics, Applied Mathematics, Semiconductor Engineering or a related technical discipline.
Several years of experience in advanced engineering simulation, system modelling and simulation-driven product development.
Strong expertise in Finite Element Analysis (FEA/FEM), multiphysics simulation and system-level modelling of complex technical products.
Experience with industry-standard simulation tools such as Ansys, Abaqus, COMSOL, Matlab/Simulink or comparable environments.
Knowledge of digital twin approaches, model validation and simulation-based optimization is considered a strong advantage.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills combined with a systems-thinking mindset.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate across disciplines and influence technical decisions through data-driven insights.
Our offer
This position will play a key role in enabling the next generation of Besi equipment.
You will help transform engineering development from a predominantly prototype-driven process into a simulation-driven, predictive engineering environment. Your work will directly influence platform architecture, development speed, product performance and technology innovation across future semiconductor manufacturing solutions.
Your salary will be based on your qualification and experience and discussed with you personally. The collective agreement minimum salary is based on the collective agreement for employees in the metal industry.
